The pictures above are from a fantastic exhibition currently running in Ilfracombe which features work by textile artists Sandy Campbell and Emma Cocker. They've produced a number of stunning sculptural wall hangings and paintings which incorporate materials ranging from beachcombing treasures such as driftwood and seashells through to recycled antique fabrics. Sandy’s work is inspired by the North Devon coastline and through texture, colour and light evokes its wild beauty. Emma's work thoroughly complements this, finding its inspiration on the land in the world of theatre and puppetry and provides beautiful, bold and very striking images. But hurry as it's only on until this Sunday 22 June.

I see there's another book which has just been published which uses surfing as a metaphor when discussing health and life. It's by Dorian Paskowitz MD and whilst I haven't read it yet, there's a very positive review at SurfLine. Details of the book can be found at AlohaDoc. The author's son has made a documentary called "Surfwise" about being raised on the beach as a surfer for which a trailer can be found here.
